Hello folks, I’m going to break down and buy a computer camera and would like some good video editing software. What are your recommendations? I have a IBM T42p with 2GHz CPU and 2GB RAM running XP Pro. Thanks in advance and looking forward to your response.

Windows movie maker is the easiest to use, but it has it's problems now and then and is pretty generic as far as the effects. It comes free with your computer though, so I take the good with the bad. As far as audio, fils290 turned me onto jetaudio, and it's a free download. I use it as my default player now. Fils...if you are reading this, thanks again.

I wish I could help you out with suggestions, but it seems I can't even post a video myself, and make it work.

I tried to post a "My first video" (actually, a test vid), but it came back with some kind of error message like: mmnsw (or something like that).

I'm using a Logitech web-cam (Laptop) on a Sony Vaio, Windows XP Media Center Edition, but know very little about computers, video uploading, editing, etc...

This laptop comes with all kinds of programs, but I tried to make the video using Windows MovieMaker and upload it. The video works fine on my PC, but the error message came up after uploading the vid to Live Leak.

Anyway, I hope you find the help you're looking for (software & hardware).

Have a great day,
2-Cups :)

If you prefer more advanced software Sony Vegas 7 is quite good once you learn how to use it. I love it. Much more advanced than Movie Maker, this of course is up to you and what sort of media you plan to create.

If it's just simple editing, Movie Maker will be probably easier.

I personally use Audacity because it's simple and free when it comes to working with audio.
Sony Vegas does has some audio features whereby you can edit and apply some audio effects as well.

I would go with Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8. It isn't very expensive and has some cool effects.
I use to use Pinnacle but after you purchase the software they make you pay more to unlock the good effects the sly pricks, so i will never buy from them again.
If you have money to burn you can't go past Adobe Premier Pro that's the shit.
