I have tandem jumped twice, soon hoping to do a solo and get good enough to do a HALO. for those that don't know
HALO = High Altitude, Low Open parachute jump.
looks awesome to me

Never heard of HALO but it sounds wicked. I have done the tandem and the solo jumps. I have done the white water rafting in Colorado when the snow melts and it gets going good. Wilderness hike/canoe trip in the border waters of Canada and the US in the middle of nowhere...no man made sounds what so ever for 14 days. Spelunking from when I lived in Missouri and that was okay but gets pretty boring. I did scuba diving in the Carribbean and that is something I would like to do again, hopefully one day around the Great Barrier Reef. I grew up doing mountain biking and the list of injuries from that includes 1 broken hand, 2 broken fingers, 1 dislocated shoulder, 124 stitches spread over 3 seperate accidents (one of those is a "T" shaped scar right by my right eye). Jumped off a 50ft cliff into a deep lagoon and that by far is what scared the living shit out of me the most. Never did that again and was shaking like a leaf before I jumped.
Just a few things I would like to do:
- Learn to surf (and get decent)
- HALO (see Sluggo's post)
- Scuba Dive off Great Barrier Reef
- Go deep sea fishing with buddys in a chartered boat drinking scotch and smoking cigars
- Wilderness trip in Alaska, hopefully take in the Aurora Borealis or "Northern Lights"
- Ride in a fighter jet
Things I will NOT do ever:
- Bungie jump
- Rock climbing (to great heights - my hands sweat thinking about it)

OK, then. you guys are still young. I embrace my age, so no loss. BUT, when I was younger, I did jump off a 60 ft cliff into a lake, and it nearly killed me. I did deep sea fish with my buds, and we DID smoke cigars. I did backpack alone in the deserted fall (October) on Mt Rainier each fall for 10 years. No human voices or any non-natural sounds or contact for 7 days in the wilderness is intensely satisfying. I did scuba once in Tahiti. But my favorite is the wilderness. I hope to be scattered there as ashes someday, where I will not hear another soul again, even as ashes. I want peace.

Funny, that was my favorite thing out of my entire list was the 14 days of canoe/hiking across wilderness with absolutely no man made sounds, buildings, etc. Total agreement with you.
Absolutely a jealous bastard over the deep sea fishing bit, you lucky sob. I am thinking that is going to be very expensive however I hope to get plenty of friends to share the cost.
I am also in total agreement with you over the cremation/scatter over wilderness deal. Burn me up and spread me around.

lots of good stuff. Read up on the HALO, the free fall is the longest, I read an article of a couple guys that did it in those winged suits. the distance they traveled was just incredable, I'll if I can find a link.
I haven't solo'd yet but it as always been one of my dreams, hopfully soon.
I also took a white river trip down the colorado, it was pretty mild though, there were many old folks with us. still good times. did a 70 miler along the John Muir trail. Done some scuba in Tahiti but would love to along the Barrier Reef. Used to alot of cliff diving in lake Havasu, I think maybe 40 ft, pretty scary. too many broken bones to count, ruptured spleen and stitches I can't even remember. good times.
suprised you won't bungee, I have twice, once from a hot air ballon and once from a bridge, love it.
come to cali. we will get several things off your list.
surfing, I have 13 boards, nuff said
HALO, we'll do it together, right down the coast by Camp Pendleton there is a place to go
deep sea fishing, I go at least 3 times a year, sometimes off of Santa Barbara but mostly off of Mexico, Kelp beds about 4 hours off the Pacific coast or a little longer drive to San Felipe and go out into the gulf, either place is awesome
been wanting to get to Alaska and see the lights for years.
ride in a fighter jet, wouldn't that be great
one thing I would like to do, ride in a glider plane, I understand it's very serene

Well that could add a few more to my list:
- ride in a hot air balloon.
- go hang-glidding (however you spell it)
I definitely want to get out to Cali and may do so this year. I haven't been West of Colorado so I have a lot of traveling to do over there.

The Everest-guy just died. Edmund Hilary.
RIP Sir Hillary.
Anyone hear what the last thing he said was? It's not verbatim, but I just heard that it was something like, "We dropped that bastard at last....". ???
Anyone know verbatim? I can't think of anything more fitting. 88 years-old, we should all be so blessed. Amazing man.

The sense of scale and eerie peace you feel whilst falling is indescribable. Your perspective on life will never be the same again. I know I'm sounding like a surf dude, but just do it, and then and only then, will you really understand.

I don't know that I could throw myself from an aeroplane, I probably lack some bravery gene. However I have a solemn oath with myself that before I am 45 I will see the Great White shark in its natural environment (Maybe in a cage, maybe just from the boat). I think that would be satisfying, to see one of natures most perfect machines doing its thing.
Apart from that I wouldn't mind a spin in a fighter jet. I imagine that would be some rush.
