that photo is from one of those Renaissance festivals where people get dressed up in period armor and and do battle. jousting, sword fighting etc. before it was mostly men but now women are taking part too. there's some excellent costumes out there and now they're doing fantasy armor as well. mostly inspired by movies, comics and video games. fun stuff :o)

Oh very cool!! I love the LL logo eked within the image too. Thank you very much! :D This is exactly what I was hoping for.


For the record, it'll be a bit before I can upload a new avatar since they have to be entered manually (temporarily I'm sure) so don't anyone be offended if you've made me an av and it doesn't appear right away.

I always do mine at 100X100 pixels at 72 dpi and the look CLEEEEEN!

I took a stab at it. I went for direction and composition with the obvious greek theme. I tried two different color pallets as well. No need to use them if they don't suit. These are very clean and simple which I think has a bigger impact as an avatar...

(Blush) Coming up with cool Greek imagery is like shooting fish in a barrel! I just love the sculptures and this one had such powerful 'direction' I thought it would translate well into a tiny avatar. I don't have any real art training as I was a physics major in college but I feel that imbalance that creates direction is often a missing element in graphic arts. It is certainly more of an emotional element anyhow!

Oh excellent! Thank you very much DJ!!! I've saved these and I have no doubt I'll use both in the future. I've got a couple here that I'll lend fair time to and I'm sure I'll be switching back and forth.

I know what you mean. I don't like symmetry very much, nature has very little of it so it always looks dead and artificial to me. asymmetrical images always seem to have a little bit of life and movement to them. I like very simple images and objects too, clutter (too much detail or color) makes me tense. this one packs a lot of authority too, perfect for the "enforcer" image of a Mod
