The Weinstein Company has revealed the very first official artwork from Quentin Tarantino's next, Django Unchained. The minimalist poster design doesn't even include the film's title, but still manages to sum up the spaghetti western tone of the December 25th release.

In the film, the title character Django (Jamie Foxx) is a freed slave, who under the tutelage of a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) becomes a badass bounty hunter himself. After assisting Waltz on taking down some bad guys for profit, he is in turn assisted by Waltz in tracking down his slave wife and liberating her from an evil plantation owner. The film deals with racism, while it's 100 percent pure popcorn and revenge flick, it takes on the evil slave owning south.

Django Unchained also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Sacha Baron Cohen, Gerald McRaney, Dennis Christopher, Kurt Russell, Laura Cayouette, M.C. Gainey, Don Johnson, Kerry Washington, Anthony LaPaglia, RZA, Tom Wopat, James Remar, James Russo and Todd Allen.

Entertainment Weekly has debuted these first two photos from Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, coming to theaters on December 25. The anticipated film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Sacha Baron Cohen, Gerald McRaney, Dennis Christopher, Kurt Russell, Laura Cayouette, M.C. Gainey, Don Johnson, Kerry Washington, Anthony LaPaglia, RZA, Tom Wopat, James Remar, James Russo and Todd Allen.

It is described as follows:
Spoiler

Set in the South two years before the Civil War, "Django Unchained" stars Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive.

Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South’s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.

Django and Schultz’s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Academy Award®-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of “Candyland,” an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to battle each other for sport. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Academy Award®-nominee Samuel L. Jackson), Candie's trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival...

Trailer coming....

Quote:

Variety's Stuart Oldham is tweeting that "sources" have let him know that the first trailer for Django Unchained will run in front of Prometheus, the new Ridley Scott film that opens June 8. There's not an especially clear connection between the two films, beyond "two things the Internet is really, really excited about," but the Weinstein Company can't exactly wait to promote Django only in front of their own films, and Prometheus-- with its R rating and director pedigree-- is likely to bring in at least a somewhat similar crowd.

You're supposed to sit back and watch the bloody film without whining about it. Considering the monumental rape of history Hollywood has indulged in over the years I'm amazed anyone gives a shit about any kind of accuracy. It's a film, it's fiction, and if the black man were the evil one you wouldn't have even posted :)
