"Repeated drugging" put Otto Warmbier in a coma?

I know the kid died a few days ago, but before he died, I've been curious as to what put him in a coma in the first place. Something obviously happened in NK, but docs said he showed no obvious signs of physical abuse (skull was in tact, etc). Then I read this article and it makes the most sense to me, based on what I know about NK's past treatment of Americans they've imprisoned and based on what I know about Otto Warmbier's condition.

Quote:

Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer believes North Korea’s repeated use of drugs killed American student Otto Warmbier.

“He was tortured not so much the way—pulling fingernails out with tools but by repeated drugging—sodium pentothal,” Shaffer told the FOX Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo.

The retired U.S. Army general said North Korea was trying to figure out whether Warmbier was a CIA spy and repeated exposure to drugs during that year in captivity is what caused brain damage.

“I think that during his confinement they did it over and over and I think that was one of the reasons that they released him,” he said. “But no doubt they kind of like saw that some things are going to go tragically wrong, we better get this guy out of here anyway so it served their purpose to get him out.”

In Shaffer’s opinion, there needs to be “some level of retaliation,” from President Trump.

Sodium pentothal is a fancy word for truth serum, from what I understand.

I just don't get what there is to repeatedly interrogate someone about smh - he stole a poster bc he wanted to bring it back as a souvenir, seems pretty simple and straight forward! How many hours a day and times can you keep going over it??? Even NK officials must get bored out of their minds doing this!!!

he might have likely been a spy

this whole story smells weird

A spy on a 4 day trip with a tour group? Highly doubt it. And the kid was like 20 when he first entered the country, I can't imagine he'd have the qualifications needed lol. Based on what other Americans who've been held in NK have said, I get the impression it's normal for NK officials to repeatedly interrogate all American detainees. For hours, every single day.

I don't think you fully appreciate the magnitude of kim jong un's insanity. The guy is an absolute nut job that doesn't hesitate to kill his own family members, or Generals when they displease him.

I'm sure you've seen vids of the people of NK in parades or in the presence of "dear leader". They go over the top nuts , but it's not because they really love him that much , it's because their scared shitless of him.

He doesn't even need a reason , cuz he's just that twisted.
I feel for otto and his family no matter what the circumstances were or weren't but anybody knowingly going there is taking there own life in their hands.

He was tortured to taunt the USA. They didnt give a fuck if he was a spy or not, they were making an example.
The regime knows its days are numbered, as the end draws closer, so the desperation will increase.

What happened to Otto, is nothing unique. Happens quite a lot all over the world, all down through history, even in modern times.

It's not that I don't believe there are spies, I just don't believe Otto was one.
