First major issues with Win 7

Computer is slow as shit, my old P4 machine runs faster than this bag of shit. Was lightening quick, but as of late gone very very slow. Tried win security essesntials, ASC, Malwarebyytes, Avast, AVG, Sophos, Combofix, and all have done nothing. Only programme I did have some success with ....... cant think of name, but picked up loads of shit, albeit wanted me to buy the prgram to fix the problems. One thing it picked up during the scan was some high priority "antivirus rule exception" or some shit. I dunno what the fuck is up, but its seriously pissing me off.

Intel Core i5, 8gb ram, Win 7 64bit, sata HD500gb

do you have one of those programs installed and doing "active protection" of some sort?

that will slow down performance noticeably in many cases.
check your task manager and see what processes are running

You have a virus of some sort at a guess....try this:

http://www.vipreantivirus.com/live/

It must be done in safe mode though.

Then do this:

Also how long have you had it? have you cleaned the cpu cooling matrix? they get clogged with dust and the cpu can overheat and slow down your PC.

Not a huge fan of security essentials personally, better than nothing, but not all it's cracked up to be (my opinion). It seem that something is blocking it access specifically, which is likely some sort of malware.

It's a pain in the ass, but at the end of the day, a clean install is always the best fix.

I would try SYSTEM RESTORE to an earlier point where it was ok first though, may save you a lot of updating and restoring of back ups.
If you're ready to blow it out anyway, turn of the system restore feature and do the restore from safe mode so it doesn't save a acopy of the fucked up state you have now as some viruses will re infect from that copy.

type in the search "resource manager" and take a look at the processes running

If you can't update the definitions in MSE your network connection is probably hacked on that computer where it redirects all traffic through a proxy.

Check your internet connections tab on Internet Explorer and see if there is a proxy listed. If there is, remove it.

I can't believe the list of "protection" apps you need to know about to use a "modern" M$ OS. I abandoned ship in 2003, when Windows XP proved to be used bandaids on old wounds, dressed as state-of-the-art cyber protection.

Orderly evacuation of the hydrogen blimp and future use of aircraft is recommended.
