Racial slurs and racism on LiveLeak
Seeing as some folks are finding it very hard to understand our stance on such things I thought it would be a good idea to put it down in black and white.
1) We don't particularly care whether you are racist or not. As an organisation we take no stance on your ideologies or beliefs.
2) We don't particularly care if people are offended by what they might see on LiveLeak. It's not our job, or intention, to wrap any religion or race in cotton wool on here.
3) We will not tolerate certain racial slurs.
It would appear it's the third point that causes confusion for some. You see, we have to run a site here and what we don't want is for our site to dissolve into comments that are little more than "did he died" and "ni**ers". The people who normally spout this kind of crap soon overwhelm a place (take a look around the net, you'll see). This stops other people posting and before you know it, crap everywhere.
We don't catch all the people that do this and probably never will. But if you are caught breaking our rules there is really no point in trying to justify your actions because...well...those are the rules. Furthermore they are rules you agree to when you post on the site (there's even a little message reminding you of that fact).
So, spare me the political incorrectness arguments or the pointless accusations of bias or hypocrisy. We are looking after our website and at no point did we claim this was a democracy where you could circumvent the rules because you don't feel they should apply to you. Nor did we ever claim you would have freedom of speech. What you have is absolute freedom of belief and the opportunity to share your views or beliefs within our rules.
If you find it difficult to voice your opinion within our rather simple rules then maybe you should take a look at your communication skills or whether this site is right for you.
Changes will be coming with version 2.0 and we will be taking a tough stance on certain things. Doing so does not please us or give us a cool power trip. If anything it's rather a shame that people cannot use a system without abusing it until action has to be taken.
