Making a microphone sound better on a laptop?

I decent mic will work well but I recommend you spend some money on a good one if you plan to do this much.
Also your on board sound card may just not be suitable, I would recommend a USB sound card.

If its just a one shot thing then robot farts it is I guess.

ADDED: Laptops are crap for audio, here are a couple of ideas I think you would like.
Its budget but far better than a laptop config.

Ah both fine ideas and thanks for the help really..I just went to value village and got one for 3 bucks that works fine..or at least good enough for what I need it for.Yes cotton..I do dumb shit.

Recording properly is always about the hardware and engineering techniques.I was SO pissed to see Shure SM-57's mechanically distort at less than 95db in a control environment.Everyone was bitching about my recordings,in the 80's,until I connected a scope,to my reference system and showed side-by-side comps against against AKG,EV,and Nuemann mics,at the same acoustic pressure levels.I gained several new powerful friends doing that,and alienated a few haters tremendously.

That's why 57's are used live for snare and guitar amps ... that signature distortion at high SPL gives a nice crack or crunch ... like a crispy biscuit. They are hopeless at capturing accurate audio.

It may not be the best mic in the world, but my 15 year old AKG C414 can capture a mosquito yawning.
