Recording properly is always about the hardware and engineering techniques.I was SO pissed to see Shure SM-57's mechanically distort at less than 95db in a control environment.Everyone was bitching about my recordings,in the 80's,until I connected a scope,to my reference system and showed side-by-side comps against against AKG,EV,and Nuemann mics,at the same acoustic pressure levels.I gained several new powerful friends doing that, and alienated a few haters tremendously.

It may not be the best mic in the world, but my 15 year old AKG C414 can capture a mosquito yawning. |
