Kotaku says the system will use either AMD's x64 CPU or perhaps AMD's Southern Islands GPU, the company's high-end chip. Graphics-wise, Orbis is said to be capable of resolutions up to 4096x2160, commonly called '4K' in TV manufacturer parlance (and one of the technological boosts shown off at this year's CES). It's also said to be able to play 3D games in full 1080p, a leap over the PS3's max 3D resolution of 720. http://games.yahoo.com/blogs/plugged...200015017.html http://ps3.ign.com/articles/122/1221819p1.html

The lack of excitement regarding console rumors should be a worrying sign for their ye olde manufacturers. There is sod-all in this conjecture to suggest a ground-breaking or even contemporary console coming.
If they don't sprinkle some sugar, nobody will bother taking a lick. It sounds like it's going to be fugly. |

The ps3 was kind of disappointing. I've had mine since close to debut. Paid 600 dollars for it, and never used it. Maybe I'm just older, but it didn't have that magic that the ps2, N64 and SNES had growing up.
Not too excited about seeing my 600 dollar paper weight become obsolete when I never even really enjoyed it to begin with. |
