They're professional seaman, they probably assist each other with each others pole all the time.

I see a lot of them on the dives in the canaries, not this big of course, the ones that get closer to the shore are usually less than a meter.
The fishermen though often bring some huge fellas from offshore fishing.
They sometimes have to get the forklift to unload a single one of them.
Extremely powerful, beautiful creatures.

I have to agree somewhat.
PLUS "sport" fishing i simply wrong imo.
You dont bring an animal in a situation where it panically fights for his life just for fun. Calling it a sport is obviously pathetic.

I go spearfishing too, but everything I shoot gets eaten the same day.
Its the same with fishing, you eat what you catch (unless its too small or a wrong bite, then you throw it back carefully releasing it from the hook).
That is btw a big advantage about spearfishing, much more sustainable because you can leave out young or endangered animals without bringing them to the surface first, possibly killing or harming them.
