Stone Roses ‘to reunite’

Lead singer Ian Brown and guitarist John Squire, former best friends, were given the opportunity to meet and “bury the hatchet” at a funeral held for the mother of the band's bass player, Mani, according to the report.


An unnamed source told the paper: "Ian has been mulling over reaching out to John for a while now. A lot of water has gone under the bridge and everyone has grown up. Ian has just gone through a tough time with a divorce and then Mani's mum's funeral brought everyone back under the same roof.

"It was an emotional reunion, there were no harsh words. It was a heart-warming breaking of bread.

"They had a lot to catch up on and have been in regular contact since."

The band were also rumoured to be reforming in 2009, shortly after the band's front man, Ian Brown, insisted there could never be a reunion. "No chance," he said. "Not in the next three lifetimes."


The band released their second and final album, 'Second Coming', in 1994. However, it was their debut that won the most accolades, and even in recent years it has continued to feature highly in lists of top 100 albums.

Love this band, but I hope they never reform. Tho I really hope Ian and John can become close again! Maybe have a little jam.

Influential Manchester rock band The Stone Roses have announced the end of a 15-year split for a series of gigs.

The band will play two shows at Heaton Park, Manchester, on 29 and 30 June before an "extensive" world tour.

At a London press conference, singer Ian Brown said his friendship with John Squire had been repaired and the group hoped to release a new record soon.
