Good war documentaries.

Lately I've found myself watching war doco's (again) ww1 and 2, vietnam, fallujah, 6 day war etc..

Just asking you guys if you recommend any, no conspiracy shit, just factual stuff.

As far as 'factual', I think Restrepo is the best one so far.

I just watched one on Netflix about the photos taken by the NVA photographers during the war. Really good as well.

'The World at War' is the most obvious one. IMO the best WWII series of all time.

The only thing I don't like about WW2 docs is the 'footage' of the landing at Normandy. Anybody with a brain can figure out they're recreated, they've been admitted to having been recreated, but they never tell you in the doc that it's a recreation.

Think about it.

Camera- facing the water from up the beach.

Soldiers- walking slow and upright, not dying, few and far between.

For what it's worth, you could probably splice in footage from Saving Private Ryan, and it would be more realistic than the recreated scenes they made a few days after D-Day.

I went to an early morning screening of SPR when it was still new in the theaters. It was like, me, and about 18-20 old dudes, with their VFW caps on and stuff. The looks on their faces was pretty telling. I would not have wanted to have had to do what they did. Fuck that.
