I honestly only speak to a couple of people that wanted the troops to stay in and one of them was originally American!

It's not about whether or not the war is popular with you guys. It's about honoring the alliance that your country has formed with us.

Everyone knows that if Canada is ever attacked, America will be there in your guys' hour of need, and we will honor the alliance. Sure would be nice if the rest of NATO honored it.

What does Article 5 mean?

Article 5 is at the basis of a fundamental principle of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. It provides that if a NATO Ally is the victim of an armed attack, each and every other member of the Alliance will consider this act of violence as an armed attack against all members and will take the actions it deems necessary to assist the Ally attacked.
This is the principle of collective defence.
