Catalonia moves closer to independence referendum

While it doesn't seem to be quite as dramatic as some headlines are suggesting, Catalonian separatists have taken a major step toward a potential split from Spain:

The resolution was softened somewhat to appease several parties, removing a reference to a "new state" but it does seem to open the door toward a referendum on independence -- a move that the Spanish government argues would be unconstitutional.

It also seems significant that the resolution was jointly presented by the ruling Convergence and Union party and the opposition Republican Left Party. While both are separatist parties, they stand on opposite sides of the political spectrum on other issues and many had questioned whether they'd be able to work together.

Undecided. Some might want a military, some might not and some might want a defense pact ala Andorra or Iceland. Personally I'm not that bothered about it whatever the decision.

There was a statement by one of the leaders of a small pro-independence party (which I voted for in 2010 but didn't obtain any seats in parliament) in favour of a future Catalan military in case of independence.
From what I saw most people I know were against it.
As you know I love military stuff in general, specially aircraft, so from that perspective I suppose I rather have one than not, but I understand the argument that kind of money is probably better spent elsewhere.
We have as many enemies, likely future enemies or as much of a need for a military as Andorra or in other words none at all.
