MMA is fine and I do like to watch it - my point is when I was growing up Boxing was huge, on TV all the time, massive fights, famous boxers.

I watch MMA but I couldn't name more than a few, my wife watches neither and can name a good few older boxers.

MMA hasn't reached the heights boxing did.

Apart from Thaiboxing etc. stealing viewers I guess one of the major reasons is that the US (as THE former promoter of boxing) have no real competitor in the only league that counts in boxing: heavyweight.
For like a decade the big mouth niggaz are getting their asses kicked by the Klitschkos.
In Germany (also therefore) boxing is alive and kicking.

I know what you are saying...personally I much prefer mma over boxing for I suppose obvious reason but there are so many mma fighters already and new ones coming in and people going here and going there and this and that..it's hard to keep track of all of them.
