Whereas the media seems to LOVE the 'intellectualism' of the cold, calculated lies and fundamental UNtruths told by the likes of the Clintons, because they manage to cloak those fundamental untruths in sophisticated lawyerly language that is harder to penetrate...as if that were something to admire.

Republicans hate the coast guard. Just another 'big government' organization that needs spending cuts. That money (tax payer dollars) can be spent elsewhere, like a private corporation who can profit.

Yes, and during that period they were under the DOD which they would revert back to in a serious military situation and their funding would increase. We are not in that situation right now but we do have some serious situations not involving water ways.

The money could be put to much better use. Obama did the same thing with the National Guard. Once we drew down he slashed their funding. Only problem with that is it was during a financial crisis and many of them had no jobs to return to or, nobody wanted to hire them out of fear of more deployment.

That is where PTSD came in. They were handing it out like candy, begging Soldiers to say they had it. I know because I have seen it and I told them no way. Basically a financial band aid. Some really did suffer from it but not nearly the level that was being diagnosed.

In this situation, those in the CG could apply to the Border Patrol or Law Enforcement if they got passed over in many cases.
