This not only happened in the US btw but all over. Fox huntin in the UK is just an excuse for toffs to got royal hard ons and the farmers blamin badgers for spreadin foot and mouth disease is cited as a reason for a mass cull. The fact that their over use of antibiotics force fed to cattle as a precaution has been ignored as a possible reason, so has the way the animals are kept.

The result of all this past "huntin" is a much denuded natural fauna. A great loss to everyone.
I know hogs are responsible for millions of dollars worth of damage in places like Texas and Hawaii. They're also quite dangerous.
I didn't see dogs actually mauling the pig in this video, but it did take them way too long to finish it off.

I don't see the problem... we use the same method on people who are trying to get away from the police.. although we generally do not kill them after.

I'd like to try hunting sometime.. but not this way. trophy hunting is lame... regardless of the method that's being used.. there really is no prestige in shooting an animal from a safe distance... now if you manage to kill a bear with a knife it would be more impressive... just remember to eat what you kill.

Yeah, I don't have a problem in keeping numbers down on animals that ruin crops etc, like I said I've shot rabbit, pidgeon and pheasant but I made sure my quarry was not suffering unnecessarily like this hog.

I will add that wild hogs are not native to the US. They were brought here from Europe and released to be hunted as a game animal.

Personally, I would never use a dog to do something so dangerous. I would be devestated if a boar tore into him and killed him. I know these dogs are trained, and have some protection on, but still....

No it isn't. Nature is nature, cruelty requires more intelligence. Most of these people shop in stores anyway, they just use "food for the table" as an excuse. I've made my feelings on hunting clear in the past and these guys just reinforce my opinion. Doubtless someone will be along to tell me they're the exception before too long.

Sustainable hunting shouldn't be discouraged (even though Ive never done it), especially when controlling pests.

Once a dog is "blooded" they require skill to manage safely, I reckon your average hunter knows how to manage their hunting dogs.
A police dog for instance catches its Target, it holds the offender until it is told to release. It's reward isn't to maul the person its a good rub and a play with its fav toy.
I agree with you that that's what they are doing in the vid but its pretty sick imo
