2 Croatian MiGs crash during a military exercise; both pilots eject safely

ZAGREB, Croatia The Croatian defence ministry says two MiG-21 fighter jets have crashed during an exercise, but that both pilots ejected safely.
The ministry says in the statement the two planes "had an accident in the air and both fell down" without specifying whether they collided.
It says the two were participating in an air force exercise near Plaski in central Croatia when they crashed at around 12:50 p.m. on Thursday.
The ministry initially said one pilot was missing, but advised later that both pilots landed safely and contacted their headquarters.

No, they're meant to be that colour. Bit like the SAS painting the Land Rovers pink so they blend in better with the desert. You see, an enemy pilot that saw that MiG would mistake it for a Parrot. Giving the Croatian time to out maneuver him.

I don't think Parrots fly at 35,000ft doing mach 2. That one pictured is probably just a trainer, the rest are camouflaged.

This line is some what puzzling "Vukelic said Croatia still has six MiGs and its airspace defence is not threatened by the accident." They just lost 25% of their fighters I would say that would have an effect, unless they mean the MiG-21 were useless to start with?

I really don't see the point in operating a fighter that old. Might as well save money for some other program.

They are the upgraded Mig-21 Bison, like the Indian Air force ones that got within firing distance of your F-15s and F-16s at the 2009 red flag as they were next to invisible to your legacy fighters. Not bad for a Vietnam era fighter jet.
