The video I saw was on this planet and it wasn't very large. I'm sure you've seen the video, I just can't find it. It's the one where the capsule lifts off, moves, hovers and lands.

And just because there are problems, doesn't mean there aren't solutions. Nothing of what I'm suggesting is outside of physical possibility, but again, I'll need that 500M!!

Cost over risk...they could give every airline passenger a parachute, but the cost against risk does not warrant it in a profit making organisation.

Yes, that's the rocket I was talking about, I think it was one of the private companies competing for the X-prize or whatever that $10 million competition is called.

The tech for stabilization is clearly present...and the device/system only needs to slow and stabilize the helicopter. Doing this, skids and pilot seats can be made more effective.

Are you suggesting they strap mini rockets to various places on Helicopters to stabilise them in an emergency?

I'm suggesting thrusting ports to stabilize and slow the vehicle so it's existing impact systems can be more effective.

A system capable of stabilising a helicopter that's out of control would have to be hugely complex, heavy and costly. Not feasible at this moment in time.

Ejector seats like the Russian Ka-50 has or a rocket parachute system ala Cirrus would be way more feasible if still prohibitively expensive and complex for a civilian craft. Wouldn't make sense.
