Would you say that if the force that's often transferred from the main rotors to the main body was negated, that the system would still be too complex? Because one if the big issues I see is pulling that force out of the equation. With it gone, stabilization requires far less power.

Good question, I don't have an answer at the moment. But you're right, I see where you're going, you'd need something powerful, yet stable. You don't want a 7.62 round to ignite the system and tear the craft apart.

That force is already negated by the tail rotor or coaxial rotors. That's how helicopters manage to fly without spinning around uncontrolably.

You also need it to be light, I'm sure people have looked at many safety systems for Helicopters, they even experimented with blowing of the rotors in sequence and ejecting the crew, hasn't caught on though. Probably too expensive.

The Russian Ka-50 is the only chopper I know that uses that system but like you said, it's expensive.

NASA is developing some kind of airbags in a Little Bird prototype in order to cushion hard landings. Automatic landing systems are also in development or already in commercial use by Eurocopter.

Like I said before, rotorcraft safety has improved and continues to improve, even if it hasn't reached fixed wing levels.

Tail rotors are often damaged in combat, the force then goes back into the body. I'm not talking about landing a healthy aircraft, I'm talking about 'survivability in a damaged craft.

Of course they're sometimes damaged, just like any other system. But you were talking about something that would negate the force of the main rotor on the choppers body and that's what the tail rotor, Notar system or coaxial rotors are for, that's why they're called anti-torque.

An out of control helicopter doesn't just spin around, it can spin in all directions and axis hence why you would need thrusters all over the airframe and pointing in all directions just like in a NASA lander in order to even have a chance of stabilising the damned thing, never mind landing. I just don't see how that's feasible.
