I use the do not call registry. I rarely get spam calls. Once a week if that.

There are a few ways to minimize the calls, but nothing that I have seen is 100%
There are a few settings in ios that can help, also the use of buddy and family list and so on.

App wise, there are a few that seem to stand above the others IMHO. Any of them that are any good are by subscription, like 25 bucks a year or some such thing. Nomorobo is up and coming(very good), call control (I think its called), true caller and a few more.
Right now I like da RoboKiller app. Its blocking ability is getting close to Nomorobo, however it also has a feature I just can't help but love. If you set up their answerbot, it messes with the scammers by countless robo answers they try to talk to. Some of them are just pure gold. You can look on da net and find recorded answer bot catches, some are just hilariously priceless trying to read their scammer scripts to it.

Here are a few. I use them for mild amusement on my old number that gets slammed with scammers from time to time.

Do not call lists can not work with criminals. They use auto dailers(Computer software) that calls EVERy number in a area, then moves to the next area code and starts all over again from ???-000-0000.

Block all numbers except your call list? Make sure the family and workplace are included, should be ok.
