Default Logan

So, I went to go see a superhero movie and instead ended up watching a weird version of Silas Marner.

I think a lot of the arts and croissants crowd who regularly complained about superhero movies, can't get enough of Logan.

Being a huge Marvel fan and having wasted thousands of dollars on comic books as a kid, Logan was a massive let down.

I wish Hugh Jackman would have played daddy fuck-up with some character he invented.. because he made Wolverine, the best of all X-men, go full retard. And he took professor X into the depths of emo crap along with him.

I suppose when a director deviates off script and creates his own back ground story for someone considered iconic like wolvarine it's going to piss off the true fans.

Would it have been a decent movie if it we're a character of his own creation?

Correction, I though guardians of the galaxy was brilliant and my ignorance prevented me from realising it was a marvel concept

Great film

I don't think it would be all the rage for the arts and croissants crowd if it would have been Hugh Jackman's own character. I think the arts and croissants crowd likes the idea of making, probably the greatest comic book character of all time, into a total pussyhat. I think that's their attraction to the film. I think they were absolutely delighted to see Wolverine totally destroyed.

I wouldn't bother with the film if I knew it was an emo drama. I don't like syrupy dramas. Most dramas come off contrived and take themselves way too seriously for my tastes. The attempt to turn action movies into emo dramas generally ruins films for me.

I am far more sympathetic to the jokers who started laughing at the film and making fun of girl's character. They were actually more entertaining and fun than the film. The film just dragged on and on and on with all this ridiculous supposedly poignant crap. Logan's last words to his "daughter", "don't be what they made you to be" is not something Wolverine would say and it's not something Wolverine wrestled with either. The only reason Wolverine ever bothered with the bad guys who surgically altered his skeleton is because he was shot in the head and lost all his memories. He was trying to find out what he was doing before he joined the X-men, not wrestling with some internal emo crisis of identity. Wolverine isn't what the arts and croissants crowd would call "deep". It seems to me, that the reason why some like Logan is because it makes Wolverine an insecure, scaredy cat confronting of all things, old age.

I was never a comic book kind of kid. 'Bout the only one I read was Mad Magazine.
I don't even care for animated films. Just doesn't appeal to me.
Now I do like some of these live action/CGI superhero movies out there.
And because I wasn't into comics, I don't know if the movie follows the source faithfully.

Haven't seen Logan yet. May watch it later when it hits PPV/vid/streaming.

When it comes to books adapted to movies...I'm sorta ambivalent.
Some are good, most aren't. For example:

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy was an excellent adaptation compared to the book.
Some of the Clancy and Crichton adaptations were done decently.

But the worst I've EVER seen is what Jackson did to Tolkien's books.
Half way through the 2nd movie of the Hobbit I found myself yelling at the TV,
for what he did with it!
If I ever meet that fucker, I'm gonna knock his teeth down his throat.
