Default Browser Hijacked

I'm sure this question has been asked before but I can't find it through a search of these forums.

My brother's browsers, IE, Google and Firefox have all been hijacked where they all open in the Yahoo search.

There is a free program that takes care of this problem... I've used it before and it really works. Does anyone know the name of that program?

To further identify said program ... one of the complaints users have with said program is that it deletes all defaults and passwords... no big deal so long as it takes care of the problem.
Thanks!

There are quite a few programs that can fix or identify bho's, and such, but most bad BHO's (Browser Helper Objects) would hijack your search to some kinda dastardly "Scum" engine like conduit or the like. I could be wrong but it first comes to my mind that someone has just installed some freeware(BTW NOTHING IS EVER FREE) or bloatware and failed to uncheck a box or two on page 28(LOL) of the end user agreement and it changed or installed some crap bars on the terminl

You can use malwarebytes free, Combofix, hijackthis, advanced sys clean and so on if it is really infected.

My first reaction is usually something like cureit by dr webb if the end user has very limited knowledge in cleaning up a terminal. It is pretty good as a first run tool in the cleanup process.

Just don,t check "email me" in the first page and choose next. scroll down on the download page and choose agree. let it download (Its just under 100 megs) then run it. It will create an abstract file name for the file so no trojan or malware will know what it is and try to stop or pollute the scan.

https://www.freedrweb.com/download+cureit+free/?lng=en

You can always use autoruns as well to see what is happening above ground in the terminal, but be careful removing things unless you know what they are, it will crash the terminal if done incorrectly.

It is a actual Microsoft tool from our technet site.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb963902.aspx

Hope it helps.
As always, if you really need me just contact me and will talk you right through cleaning it.

Waves to all...

Yeah yeah yeah. More 'techie' nonsense.

Here's what you do.

Stuff a toad's mouth with dried chrysanthemum petals and ground coriander, sew it's lips shut with thread harvested from a thief's burial clothing, and burn it over a fire of bird's eye maple at midnight. It is imperative that you be fully nude while doing this.

This will please Jubu ('Hayden' in the western dialect), and your browser will be restored.

Or you could try slapping it a few times while screaming obscenities at it. You may not be able to find a toad this time of year. Always good to have a backup plan.

Good luck.

Godspeed.

Malware Bytes - Free download. I've had great luck with it. In fact, I actually paid for the real time protection.

Nah man...It's easy...Just Google search "How to Remove Yahoo(Or Whatever) from my computer."

Usually you can just scour everything that says Yahoo off the computer...

Same thing happened to me a while back. It's probably something he downloaded that changes your homepage. Click tools, then options and see what's listed as the homepage.
If it's yahoo change it back to what it was before.

May be one of those pay to unlock BS pop ups.
Use the task manager to end the task using ctrl/alt/del to get to task manager then use the malicious software removal tool.
Simple, just run it when you DL it and do a full scan.
When its done remove it from the list .. may be more than one.
But I suppose you can use malware bytes as well .. more of a hassle IMHO.
And the free version doesn't go as deep either.
