Default Cooling Fluid Leak??

I woke up this morning to find a big pool of water underneath my PC, and when it won't turn on - it just makes a loud buzzing noise.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience of this? Is it to do with my cooling fluid leaking? Or is there some other reason? If so, I imagine my PC is pretty much fucked now. I can't imagine water and electronics make a good team.

Has anyone else had this problem before?

There should be a little hummingbird sculpture made out of ice sitting in your BIOS. If he has melted, then, yeah ... Computer is dead.

It's a 2000 PC, so i'm pretty pissed off if its dead. Surely they're designed that if the cooling liquid leaks, it doesn't damage the electronics?

I was also thinking, if I was to buy another PC - is it relatively easy for a computer noob like myself to take out the graphics card from my old one, and put it into my new computer?

Yeah, it's pretty easy to take out the GC and put it in another one. Before you buy a new one though, you should take the cover off and have a look, find out what failed and why, if it was on, chances are pretty good that that your CPU over heated and died.

Take it to a repair shop ... it's almost certainly ONLY the cooling system, the FIRST component to get shorted ... and (possibly) the PSU.

Don't mourn the ice hummingbird ... it was only a sculpture ... not a real life tweety bird.

BTW: when you take it for repair, act way more knowledgeable than you are, lest you be treated as a blonde woman at the mechanics.

I've never messed with the liquid cooled. Do they have some kind of fail safe? You know, shut themselves down?

I've only had one ... a Coolermaster PC I built for gaming in Windows XP days. Had no problems with it, the RAM bus, EIDE bus, chipset, and PCI bus all ended up obsolete, making the whole shebang pointless for upgrading.

I've had heaps of experience with drunk bastards pouring beer into expensive ($10k+) keyboards on stage however. Numerous insurance claims and assaults with microphone stands happened in my youth.

The failure point is always small and spectacular. Somebody with a soldering iron can usually fix it.

I took our 16 chan mixing board apart and cleaned it with my pressure washer then let it dry in the sun, it was fine. I learned that trick in 1972 when hurricane Agnas came through here, my dad was bringing home dump truck loads of TV's that where being tossed out because they had been under water in the flooding, most of them worked after hosing all the mud out of them and letting then sun dry, the ones that didn't had the "instant on" feature, which just meant that internally it was always on and the switch only shut the CRT off.

I sold most of those TV's for $25 a pop, that was a lot of money to an 11 year old kid, lol.
