Linda May Billman
GradySizematters GradySizematters is offline 08-10-2014, 07:38 AM

I lost my better half on Friday evening. It was my birthday also, and I can not believe less then a week ago we were planning on where we were going for dinner and other plans. It happened way to fast, and way too soon. Trust me when I say ..."live each day to the fullest, you truly never know what tomorrow will bring."
I miss you bad baby. The only thing I can ever be mad at you for is leaving me and breaking my heart.

Linda May Billman, age 59, of Madison, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014, at UH-Case Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Conneaut, September 6, 1954, the daughter of the late Elmer and Ruth (Moore) Johnson. Linda married the love of her life, David Billman, on October 14, 1988. Linda worked for many years at Neff Perkins and more recently worked at Walmart in Madison. She was a nurturing woman, who greatly enjoyed raising her children and babysitting her grandchildren. She had a love for animals, and her dogs overtime became her children to care for and nurture. Linda also enjoyed sewing, bowling, and spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Billman is survived by her loving husband, David; children, Valleri (Frank) Kovach of Painesville, Jeremy (Cari) Koykka of Madison, and Brian Billman of Warren; siblings, Elmer (Deborah) Johnson of Kingsville, Diane (Doug) Flack of Pierpont; and Charles (Becky) Johnson of Ashtabula; as well as eight grandchildren. Linda was preceded in death by her parents. At her request cremation will take place. A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Ducro Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, is handling arrangements.www.ducro.com -

This may be inappropriate to ask and if you don't even wanna think about it right now, i completely understand but what exactly caused the stroke? you said she went in there for a tumor in her stomach, right? did they put her under anesthesia to operate on the tumor and that's what caused it?

i'm so sorry, by the way. i can't even imagine how you must feel.

They assume the tumor was the leading cause. It must have affected her organs as she also had septic poisoning. So, it started off as severe stomach pain and she was admitted. Within 5 hours she had a major stroke affecting 3 parts of her brain. Life flight to a cancer and neural specialist center with in minutes. Once there the other issues were on hold as the stroke and brain swelling, as well as loss of blood flow to her limbs became the main problem. Over night she had a heart attack and her blood pressure dropped. It also threw more blood clots into her veins. Several in her organs, one in a main neck artery. After more test and the discovery of the septic poisoning combined with her blood pressure dropping into the mid 50's they couldn't even do any surgery. She would have died on the table.
So we decided to remove the ventilator and let her go.

My deepest sympathies, Grady. Septic shock has a mortality rate of about 50% and causes multiorgan failure. If her tumor was indeed cancerous and had metastasized, this would leave her at increased risk of stroke as well. There is simply no way you guys could have foreseen such a thing. I can't even imagine the sorrow you must feel. All my love to you and your family.

I've never ventured into this section of forum before (was a comment made by lippy in Random that brought me here)

But felt that I should come and pay my respects - I really feel for you Grady, I'm sure that yourself and those important to you will be strong, help each other work through the immediate future and come out the other side with fond and happy memories.

Take care buddy
