You're being stupid, even the budget hard drives these days will outlast your PC and the one after it. Not to mention that SSD's have at the minimum double digits, and usually triple digits, percent performance increase over regular HDD's. They also consume less power, produce less heat and have no noise.

Question.
I've already upped my HD on my PS3FAT to 1TB. What about running a PS3 using an SSD. Would it work? and if so how much improvement?

There are improvements to certain games which stream textures, like Rage.

I could see the benefit of a SSD for a console assuming the manufacturer provides a format utility for it.

However .. data transfer for memory though faster still must interact with the video chip as a separate hardware interface.
The AMD APU on the other hand would be ideal since it is designed to integrate directly with memory for video and size is to my knowledge not a significant factor at present.

Of course I'm only speculating but it is based on current proved truths around what is currently in use.

For your OS sure, but my storage / installed apps / games / music
video (which can stream a 50GB film via plex / LAN without skipping a beat)
is run from a couple of 2TB USB3.0 external drives, they are quite
fast enough for anything I've tried, as long as the PC can keep up.

Since this thread started, I've got a new lappy .. with a 512GB SSD, Thunderbolt connectivity (2 to 4 times faster than USB 3.0) and an external Lacie RAID array (8TB over Thunderbolt via 4 2TB HDD's).

Either buy a MacBook Pro or a Razer Blade ... there is simply nothing else out there that even comes close.

BTW: The Razer Blade is the superior machine, but the MacBook Pro comes with Mac OS-X ... and Apple runs a vertically integrated business model (meaning if you want decent audio/music production, you HAVE to buy Apple gear).

BTW2: Logic Pro X is only $199 USD, comes with about $20k of incredible audio plug-ins, attempting to compete on Windows with Pro Tools, Cubase, or Alberton will be VERY costly (upwards of $500 without plugins, upwards of $5k with). Paying an extra $200 for a MacBook Pro is a no-brainer if you're into music.

Why can't apple make a Windows version of Logic pro? They would make a killing

SSD, not worth it.

If you have deep pockets and a crappy computer, don't listen to me.
