I know this thread is ancient but even in 2010 there was absolutely no reason to be using or still be using Outlook or any dedicated email program.
Email providers have webpages, and you have a web browser, and web browsers have email addons that will alert you to new email. (x-Notifier)

are you even being serious?

Have you ever worked in any large ,municipal or enterprise network environments? (they generally don't use yahoo mail)

To start, what happens when you have clients that are restricted from internet use ?
The list is too long. Real world application goes far beyond personal email and facebook messages.

that's just insane gibberish. I agree, nobody should be using outlook anymore. Thunderbird is a decent replacement (for example).. but to think relying on a web interface is a great idea then I'm sorry, champ.. but you're out of your fucking mind.
