Unhappy Computer won't turn on

My computer won't turn on. At first I thought the battery was just dead but it's been charging for over 2 hours and still nothing. This couldn't come at a worse time as I have a major deadline to meet in 36 hours w/regards to sending certain documents, etc.

Computer is a Mac.

Help?

Thanks, I see their second option is to try a different power cord. Believe it or not, of my 5 roommates, none of them have macs...I may just need to go get a new cord tomorrow

Is the outlet working.
Is the battery seated properly.
Check the pins connection points on the battery and the insert for debris or dust.
Is the power connecter center pin on the laptop loose or broken?
checking for loose will require a probe to determine, plastic or wood is ideal a toothpick if you have one don't use metal and a light touch to probe will do to see it its loose in its seat.
Some do break off from incidences where the power cord is jerked out from sliding off the desk or improper pulling.
Does the power brick get warm?
Rule out the obvious first.
You may find a flashlight and magnifier glass handy if you have them around.

Outlet works. Battery is in properly and I checked both the pins on the cord and computer outlet for debris and cleaned it out and still nothing. I'll try the other stuff you suggested and see if that helps...

I always hope for the simple fix.
Make sure you take the power supply with you when you go to replace it.
Don't know your model and they range from 45 to 85 watts.
The wrong one can fry it .. well .. the rely circuit inside anyway.
In fact take it all with, they may be able to test it further on the spot.

Silly question, but is the charging light/indicator on the mac showing that it is charging?

If it is, unplug the AC adapter, remove the battery, reconnect the AC adapter and see if it will spark up with out the battery installed and just power from the main supply.
