Default Vehicles I wish I had kept.

My list isn't very long, only 3, but I would love to have all 3 back again.

'69 MGB. Bought it for a song while in college. Needed body and interior work, but it ran like a champ in city traffic, not so grand on the highway, but it got me home for breaks. Parents were pissed at me for buying it, till I sold years later for much more than I paid for it.
What I liked about it: I was surprise my tall frame fit perfectly in the driver seat. Quick response to the down shift in traffic maneuvering. Last year for the chrome bumpers, after that they went to the rubber baby buggy bumpers - ruined the car's looks.

'69 Camaro RS/SS factory custom order. I know this 'cause it had all the original factory and dealer paper work with it.
This is the one car I truly had wished I'd kept.
I've NEVER seen another '69 Camaro exactly like this one.
Ran across it a few days after my 1st cruise at sea, at my home port.
Had my roomy drop me off on the way to the ship that morning, and with in a hour, I had signed the papers. Got a rip from the Captain for being late.
At lunch went to the CU and secured the loan, and that afternoon drove it to the apartment.
What I liked about it....what's NOT to like about it! A true muscle car!

Solid apple red w/ no rally/race stripes at all, RS hide-away headlights, SS chrome slot hood, exterior chrome package, 350 LT-1 Vette motor, Muncie 4 speed rock crusher, 'Scottish Plaid' interior w/ black and white vinyl, bucket seats front and back w/ center consoles and fold down rests, center hump 6 gauge console just in front of the shifter just below the AM/FM/Cassette/CB radio! And that's just the factory specs!
The previous owner, which just so happened to be the used car dealer's brother-in-law, bought it new to drive, but then put it on the 1/8th miler in Charleston, till he found a 2 speed vette to replace it. So he had done a lot of custom aftermarket work on the car.
On the 350LT1 - holly 780 dual-pump spread bore, Edelbrock low-rise intake and tuned port exhausts w/ manual cutouts, TRW cam and gear drive with roller rockers and tuneable hydraulic lifters, heads were ported, domed pistons, dual point distributor (changed that later to electronic), electric oil and fuel pumps, over-amped alternator, dual batteries in the trunk.
The drive train and suspension - short throw clutch, Hurst speed shifter, heavy duty needle bearings on the drive shaft, 4:11 posi rear end, ladder bars w/ frame extensions, air shocks all the way around, over sized coil springs in front and leaf springs in the rear, Years later when I rebuilt the front suspension, I noticed it had adjustable sway and torsion bars.
What I didn't like...That engine was a bitch to tune, had to do it every weekend. It also ate spark plugs like candy, no matter what heat I tried! The engine was so strong it sent the pinion gear in the posi to howling with stress cracks, replaced it with a 3:56 slip from a '72. Lost my low end, but I could peg my speedometer cruising on the highway, with RPM's to spare.
When I moved to NC, Dad let me put it up on blocks in a back shed they had, because he knew what i had, and I couldn't take it with me at that time. I made the mistake of leaving the title and registration with him, and mom found them and sold it on her own, while dad was away on a business trip, forging my signature on the title transfer! To compensate me for the wrong she had done, after dad died she gave me his....

'89 Crown Victoria LTD, like that would compensate me.
But I loved that car!
Not only because it was my dad's car, it was a highway sleeper.
I don't know how he did it, but he had the police interceptor drive train.
Probably because he bought it through his brother-in-law's brother's ford dealership. Confusing isn't it!
Had the 351CID w/ oversize oil sump, radiator and alternator, and of course the computer! My dad put 2 big red lights (attached to the brake lights) in the back window, and a CB (that I installed) and a short dummy VHF antenna; then drive the speed limit and watch the traffic pile up behind, thinking he was a cop! He got a kick outta that!
On the CB we've even heard truckers commenting about the cop car traveling the speed limit! Funny as hell!
When I got it, all I did was put a U/Vhf transceiver, a police scanner, then a cell phone link. We're talking about 6 antennas!
I've watched so many sport cars and rice burners come up on me from the inside, slow down, and check me out, give me the finger, then think they are racing away, until I catch up with them, and put them in my dust.

This isn't the exact car, but this is exactly what it looked like...

1947 Knucklehead. Found it in a garage and bought it for $200. Traded it for work done on a bike I was riding at the time. I'm still embarrassed.
