Default Dead laptop

Hi, hope you guys can help me out here, Iíve a second laptop that suddenly decided to give up the ghost & now just wonít fire up.

Firstly is was working just fine, no issues whatsoever, I powered down as normal, there was no signs of any issues, no warnings, no error messages.

Iíve come to it today & thereís nothing, firstly I thought it might be the psu, but no itís working as it should, the battery is showing fully charged & itís a new battery I might add, the old battery is also fine. Just doesnít hold its charge as long hence the new battery,

I figured maybe the CMOS battery was on its way so Iíve changed that also, Iíve checked all connections and theyíre ok.

Iím at a loss as to what it might be.. Iím leaning towards the motherboard being fried, but fingers crossed it isnít.

Iíve tried a hard start to no avail also..

So any of you computer nerds have any pointers??

Much appreciated

Try another power lead. I had similar issues with a Toshiba before and it was some sort of weird imbalance thing. A new lead fired the batteries up properly and it worked 100%.

How do you see that the battery is fully charged.
Does it turn on but not boot up.
Does it not turn on at all.
Do any lights come on.

OK, Waves..

Good day. Out of da gate. What kinda terminal is it? Make, model. It is almost always on the bottom of the asset, on a sticker.

Also, does it do anything, lights, sounds, anything?

Ok, sorry my bad.

The original battery wasnít charging very well so I purchased a new one, installed it & plugged in the PSU, the battery light was orange indicating it wasnít fully charged, I left it plugged in for a few hours until the light was blue, indicating fully charged,

The model is a Advent Monza T100 Red

There is no sound at all coming from the laptop when I try to power up, no fan noise, no nothing.

I have noticed there is no light or power indication when I remove the battery & leave in the PSU

The psu works fine as Iíve tested two on my other laptop.

This laptop has had hardly any use & has never been dropped or had any spillages to it either

If I were honest, this one does not sound like it is going to have such a great outcome, however, here we go.

Have you tried to place the old battery back in and boot it? If not, try it without any battery. You should leave the power cord unplugged for about 15 min before you try again. also press the power buttons a few times while no power source is plugged in to drain any capacitors holding charge. This will insure the best reset on restart( in case something in the BIOS is frozen) it would not hurt to remove the BIOS battery as well during the 15 min wait.

Ok, if I understood correctly up until the failure. The terminal worked perfectly until you removed the failing battery and replaced it with a aftermarket one you purchased to replace the original with.

When you first plugged the top up after the battery installation, the terminal responded as usual. (charging lights lit up, things like that). After a bit of time the bat charge light changed its reporting status to full. (Green or Blue light) Then when you tried to boot it, it did not respond.

Oh. when did you notice that the battery light quit working?

Waves
Philo.
